About Willow Place for Women

willow place in north carolina

Willow Place for Women was founded in early 2011 by Dixie Brown and Allyson Chambers after they both spent several years in the substance abuse and mental health fields. They recognized the specific needs of women who were seeking a safe healing place for recovery from eating disorders and substance abuse. This realization led them to a small boutique setting in West Palm Beach where they developed a beautiful, quiet and safe home-like setting for women to find healing. Together, they developed a program for substance abuse and eating disorders that would lead women down the path to stability, hope and healing.

In the fall of 2013, Willow Place expanded and moved its facility to a larger two-story building providing the women with greater space for individual and group counseling, as well as a dining room, an open space for yoga and dance, and a quiet room for massage therapy. At the same time, Dixie saw a need for this kind of facility and treatment in her hometown of Asheville, North Carolina. Months of research and networking ensued, until they were able to find the perfect space, plus a highly credentialed staff, to grow the Willow Place program in downtown Asheville.

Willow Place continues to grow and research the specific needs of women in these recovery communities, as well as around the United States. Willow Place works with treatment centers all over the country, as well as several recovery residences in the West Palm Beach and Asheville areas to provide women the structure and support they need to further their recovery and reclaim their lives from the effects of substance use and eating disorders.

Our Locations

Willow Place for Women was first established in 2011 in West Palm Beach, Florida, by co-founders and addiction recovery specialists Dixie Brown and Allyson Chambers – two women with a passion for (and personal history of) recovery from addiction and eating disorders. Since the treatment facility opened its doors, it has gained a lasting reputation as one of the most professional and effective outpatient female-exclusive facilities in Southern Florida. The beachside location allows clients to heal in the tropical beauty of the sunshine state, rejuvenating their minds, bodies, and souls while exploring all of the natural splendor the environment has to offer.

Dixie Brown, co-founder of Willow Place for Women, was born and raised in Asheville, North Carolina, later moving to Southern Florida to pursue her career in addiction treatment. Once in Florida, she met up with her future business partner, Allyson Chambers – a like-minded woman with a similar interest in addiction recovery and recovery from eating disorders. Together the two women worked to establish what would soon become one of Southern Florida’s premier female-specific treatment centers. Two years after Willow Place for Women first opened its doors, Brown came to realize that a similarly structured program would be of great benefit to the women in her hometown of Asheville. Thus the Asheville location was born, and has, to this day, helped innumerable women successfully overcome their addictions and dual diagnosis disorders.
