Setting Our Intention

To ring in the New Year, the women in Asheville participated in a two day workshop facilitated by our art therapist, yoga instructor, dietitian and spiritual advisor. The women began the workshop on New Years Eve with yoga and a guided meditation with Liesa and then participated in an art therapy directive with Ali to create “Intention Boards”.

The women spent three hours creating their boards and setting their intentions for 2014. They closed the door on pain, addiction, trauma and brokenness, and opened a door to healing, hope, recovery and unconditional love. They then participated in a creative writing project with Kathy and processed the intense emotions that these boards facilitated.

On New Year’s Day the women hiked through Bent Creek with Dixie, Michelle, Ali, Kathy, and Liesa, ending with yoga and meditation on the beach of Lake Powhatan. After returning to Willow Place, Michelle provided a beautiful healthy lunch spread for the women to enjoy around the dining room table with conversation and laughter.  The women had an amazing two day experience they will never forget!
