Empowerment Group

Asheville Empowerment Group | Willow Place for WomenHow can a Women Empowerment Group Help During Treatment?

Clients are encouraged to differentiate power vs. empowerment and to define what empowerment means in the larger context and individually. Psycho-education is provided regarding messages from the media about female empowerment, leadership, relationships, power, sexuality, body image, and self-esteem. Women are encouraged to identify their own belief systems and to use cognitive behavioral skills to challenge beliefs that do not align with who they strive to be. They are provided with skills and group exercises that help them to foster self-worth, self-trust, and empowerment on an individual level during empowerment group sessions. Psycho-education is then provided regarding healthy and unhealthy relationships, and establishing empowerment within relationships.
