A Season of Giving

A Season of Giving

As the holidays approach us, I reflect upon what this season is really all about.  What comes to mind immediately is GRATITUDE and GIVING.  I can’t help but think of all the blessings I have received over this past year and all that I have to be grateful for in my everyday life.  As we are taught in Twelve Step Programs- We can only keep what we have by giving it away.  And this is just the spirit that floats around Willow Place from day to day.  Our women are immediately greeted with love and compassion from our staff and their soon to be confidantes in recovery from the minute they walk in the door.  Watching these women grow and flourish has been a dream come true, it is a daily reminder of what life is all about.  I am grateful to be a part of their lives and watch the spirit of gratitude and giving grow every day at Willow Place.

Last year for the holidays we hosted a Food Drive with other local businesses to support Manna Food BankThis year we are hosting another, with several new sponsors!  Bent Creek U Store It, Christine’s Cardio Fitness, McKinney Insurance Services, Biltmore Iron and Metal, The Center for Disordered Eating, New Dawn Chiropractic, Hunter Volvo, WNC Barbell, and The Lilly Pad.

This year we are also participating in Operation Christmas Child!  The women will decorate shoeboxes and pack them with toys, toiletries, and more for children in need around the world.  It is our goal to spread the joy of Christmas to those who cannot experience that joy on a daily basis as a result of where they live and the poverty or turmoil in that area.  We look forward to sharing even just a shoebox sized bit of joy with someone else this season!
