Spiritually-oriented practices tend to improve coping skills and social support, foster feelings of optimism and hope, promote healthy behavior, reduce feelings of depression and anxiety, and encourage a sense of relaxation. Our Spirituality Program focuses on how women can use spirituality in their daily living, in relationships, and in their day-to-day challenges. Program goals include assisting clients to develop a relationship with a ‘higher power’ and empowering women to draw from their own spirituality in recovery as a resource for inner strength. These are emphasized through strategies such as prayer, meditation, guided relaxation, guided imagery, affirmations, and gratitude practices. Our program is free of any specific religious or denominational orientation, and differences in spiritual background are respected.
Spirituality in Recovery from Addictions or Eating Disorders
We help women bolster their spiritual strength in many ways, facilitating a connection between each client and a higher power of her understanding through exposure to a wide array of related practices. However, we understand that the concept of ‘spirituality’ can be quite difficult for some to grasp. For this reason, we offer our clients the opportunity to explore whatever they feel will help them – including (but not limited to), yoga classes, nature exploration, and intensive art therapy. We at Willow Place for Women see spiritual wellness as a fundamental part of overall recovery and work hard to help each and every one of our clients foster some degree of spiritual connection. See what implementing spirituality in recovery can do for your journey to obtain lasting healing!
